The transport and freight company “BEHINEH TARABAR AZHOUR” was established in Tehran, Iran, in 2012 simultaneously with the development of markets in the Middle East and Russia. The company has always maintained close ties with Iran’s railways.

Iran’s railway is a member of the SMGS Convention within the Organization for Cooperation between Railways. The track gauge conforms to European standards (1435 millimeters). Iran’s railway connects the country to Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Additionally, there is a maritime border with the Persian Gulf.

The railway borders with Turkmenistan are determined at three stations:

  1. Sarakhs: Over 300 vehicles daily pass through this station, connecting Iran to Turkmenistan and back.
  2. Incheh Borun: Links to the Akyayla station.
  3. Lotfabad: Connects to the Artik station but is not directly linked to Iran’s railway lines.

Iran is connected to Azerbaijan through two stations: Astara, Located along the Caspian Sea, and Jolfa, One of Iran’s oldest border stations, it historically connected Iran to the former Soviet Union.

At the Iranian railway terminal at Astara station, active work is being done with import, export, and transit wagons and containers within the North-South international transport corridor. With the involvement of road carriers, containers are sent to Rasht station in Gilan province for further transfer to Bandar Abbas and vice versa.

Julfa station was used for both passenger and freight transport until the collapse of the Soviet Union. After the destruction of the railway tracks connecting the country with Armenia, Julfa station now only provides rail communication with the Nakhchivan region.

Iranian railways border Turkey at Razi station. This is the only railway line through which wagons from Central Asia and Russia can cross the borders of Sarakhs and Incheh Borun and reach the Turkish Van station. Iranian wagons can also travel from this station to Istanbul.

The railway border with Afghanistan also passes through one station – Shamtiq. It was put into operation only in 2020. From this station, a railway line goes to the city of Herat in Afghanistan.

Iran’s railway connects with Pakistan through Mirjaveh station. To reach it, wagons arriving from Central Asia, Russia, and Turkey go to Zahedan station in Sistan and Baluchestan. There, operations are carried out to transship Pakistani wagons. Pakistani wagons entering Iran through the Mirjaveh/Taftan railway border (in Pakistan) are two-axle and can carry up to 22.5 tons.

The rail-water border with the Persian Gulf passes through Bandar Abbas. This station has terminals for storing transit cargo and provides other logistics services. After loading, containers are sent from Bandar Abbas to the waters of the Persian Gulf, the Indian Ocean, the China Sea, etc.

Another important logistics point is the Imam Khomeini seaport. Unfortunately, the delivery of covered wagons and some tanks from Central Asia and Russia to this station is impossible due to the size of the tunnels. However, it can accept standard containers.

Iran is actively developing export rail deliveries to Russia, Central Asia, and the Baltic region, with the majority consisting of petrochemicals and petroleum products, construction and mineral products, nuts and dates, polymer products, and metals.

Transit and imported products such as sulfur, chemical fertilizers, flour, wheat, cotton, grains, wood, and cereals cross Iran on their way to Turkey and Europe, Pakistan, Iraq, the Persian Gulf countries, East Asian countries, and India.

The Behine Tarabar Azhour company provides railway services, while actively expanding its representation at the railway and railway-water borders of Iran in terms of cargo transit logistics, as well as the supply and transfer of wagons for export products at all stations, including Isfahan, Shiraz, Tehran , Tabriz, Mashhad, Motahhari, Zahedan, Bandar Abbas, Erak, Rasht, Semnan, Shahrud, Inche Burun, Gorgan, Amirabad, etc.

The company has universal 20-foot containers, provides services for the transportation of grain, chemical fertilizers, sulfur and other products, and also ships petrochemical liquids in tank containers during the transit and export of products between Iran and designated bordering countries.

It should be noted that the Behine Tarabar Azhour company is the representative of the Kaztemirtrans company of Kazakhstan in Iran.
