According to the website of the Employees’ Savings Fund Institute of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, the ITI (Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul) corridor train announced on December 21, 2021, that with the presence of high-ranking officials from Pakistan, ambassadors of Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan in Islamabad, it started its journey towards Zahedan railway station and entered the country today.

Amin Pourbarkhordari, CEO of Resan Rail Pars Company, stated in an interview with the public relations of the Employees’ Savings Fund Institute of the Railways that to activate this corridor in the first phase, these wagons, after entering Zahedan station, will undergo customs operations and transfer of cargo from Pakistani wagons to European wagons, and will move from Zahedan towards the Iran-Turkey railway border (Razi) under the forwarding of Resan Rail Pars Company, with Ankara as the final destination.

The operation of this project is being carried out in coordination with the railways of Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan, as well as the embassies of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey, and the ECO Secretariat in Tehran.

He expressed hope that with the activation of this corridor after a decade, and considering the safer and more cost-effective nature of rail transport compared to sea and road transport, we hope that with the realization of rail transport for this project, international rail transport and transit transport of this corridor will develop more than ever.
